It is almost getting to where you have to wonder which is going to become the mandate among the sports participant. Will the annual salary rule supreme as wages continue to increase into the range of millions of dollars for the top sports players or will the costly medical health insurance win this race. At one time, it was up to the sports participant to decide which health insurance policy was best, but then it moved into the world of the various teams.
Over the passage of time, it has spread to the many college and professional leagues and now it is in most, if not all, of the more prominent colleges and universities. It seems everyone wants to jump into the bandwagon. The rising cost related to medical injuries and the time it takes for the healing process is driving this process.
Individual health insurance is slowly becoming a medical insurance of the past as the group insurance policies are beginning to sweep the country in one form or another. All the current talk is focusing on mandatory medical health insurance. However, the studies and statistics fail that this will work. There is no statistical evidence to present how this is sustainable, yet so many individuals are in favor.
The proof is still in the pudding so to speak and in time as the casualties begin to mount so will the average monthly cost for health insurance. The present medical insurance policies are maintainable at a lower cost as new members fill the coiffeurs for each of the sports participant’s teams. What the medical liability insurance will cover is listed below.
1. One million dollars of sport liability coverage per occurrence
2. One million dollars of sports liability coverage per occurrence and up to two million dollars of coverage in specific areas
3. One million dollars of sports liability coverage per occurrence and up to an additional three million dollars of coverage in specific areas
4. Additional medical health care provisions for sports participants
Initially the lower medical premiums were garnered through the group insurance plan, which have the capability of covering more individuals for less money spread equally among the various providers. However, enrollment of late has diminished and if this trend continues, it will cause the annual rates of medical health insurance to rise substantially.
Only time will tell how this type of medical insurance for the various sports team participants will play out. Whether it will become sustainable or whether it will need rearranging will be seen in the years to come.
